Following the Supreme Court’s Judgement which allowed the use of the old 1000 and 500 naira notes until December 31st, the governor of Kaduna State, El Rufai who initially disobeyed Buhari’s declaration that the old 1000 and 500 naira notes are not to be in use, has accused the People’s Democratic Party of plotting with the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele to use the naria redesign policy to win the presidential election.

During an interview on Arise TV, El Rufai said that Emefiele was originally appointed by PDP and this is a ploy to help PDP win the 2023 presidential elections, and sugar-coated it to deceive the President that he wanted to curb inflation, by withdrawing two trillion naira from circulation, to reprint everything in two months, a feat which no country has ever achieved.

El-Rufai said, “First let me say that this is a policy of the PDP. Emefiele was appointed Central bank governor by the PDP originally.

“So let’s not forget where he came from and he is the one that put this policy together to help the PDP win the 2023 general elections and deceived the president into thinking it is possible to withdraw two trillion naira from circulation and reprint everything in three months.

“No country in the world history has done it. He deceived the president and gave the president wrong information and the attorney general.”

Everyone is waiting for what the Central Bank Governor has to say as regards this Supreme Court directive. Nigerians have gone through untold hardship in the past few weeks and we are hoping that we don’t have to go through the torture of cash scarcity again.
