Peter Gregory Obi, the chosen Labour Party flag bearer for the 2023 presidential elections has just dismissed the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, which upheld Tinubu’s victory at the presidential polls on Wednesday, September 6.
Peter Obi, during the statement had vowed that he would exhaust every legal process made available to him and his political party.
While speaking at a press briefing in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Thursday, September 7, Obi had expressed dissatisfaction with the Tribunal’s judgement on one hand, and praised the panel for delivering the judgement within the given time frame on the other hand.
Mr Obi had also revealed that his legal team had already gotten firm instructions to file an appeal against the PEPC’s decision.
According to Obi, he was determined in his pursuit of justice, not just for himself, but also for the throngs of supporters across the country whose electoral mandate was illegally forestalled by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Obi had additionally, highlighted the crucial role of trustworthy national institutions and the citizen’s confidence in them in a thriving democracy.
The LP candidate had also pointed out that electoral litigation could have been immensely reduced if INEC had carried out its statutory functions transparently and fairly.
