Nigerian musicians Portable and Speed Darlington are gearing up for a celebrity boxing match on April 18 at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The feud between the two started when Darlington invited Portable to perform at his upcoming event, offering him N500,000 for the performance. Portable rejected the offer, mocked Darlington for being “poor,” and stated he charges N20 million per performance.
“Why invite me to your show when you can’t afford it? You’re using my name for promotion. I charge N20 million, ask anyone,” Portable said. “N500k for what? I don’t hang out with poor people. I don’t know how poor he is.”
Darlington responded by accusing Portable of disrespecting his mother.
“Why did I stoop so low to contact Portable? I regret it because of the insults, especially involving my mother,” he said.
In retaliation, Portable challenged Darlington to a fight, boasting that he would defeat him just as he did actor Charles Okocha. “I want to fight you. Put us in a ring, and I’ll beat you like I did Okocha,” he declared.
The highly anticipated match was confirmed by event organiser Mygamerush, who announced it on Instagram, stating, “You asked for it, and now it’s here. Two street kings clash for ultimate street supremacy.”
