The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja will begin the pre-hearing of the petitions challenging the result of the February 25 presidential election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had declared that Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress had polled 8,794,726 total votes to win the election, declaring Atiku the first runner-up with 6,984,520 votes, while Labour Party’s Peter Obi, the second runner-up had polled 6,101,533 votes.
But Atiku, Obi, and some other political parties had shunned the results announced by INEC and had approached the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to revoke Tinubu’s victory.
Meanwhile, one can expect in today’s proceedings the hearing to be scheduled as well as the number of witnesses, how many minutes the witness will use, and how to admit the documents; all of these proceedings are known as a pre-trial.
