According to Italian authorities, a Paris St Germain supporter sustained severe wounds following an overnight altercation between football enthusiasts in Milan prior to the Champions League match between AC Milan and PSG.
The police confirmed on Tuesday that the victim, a 34-year-old French national, was stabbed twice in the leg and subsequently transferred to Milan’s Policlinico hospital for medical treatment.
The incident occurred in the canal district of the city, a renowned nightlife hub, where approximately 50 AC Milan fans clashed with PSG supporters shortly after midnight.
In an attempt to quell the unrest, two police officers were injured during a baton charge against the French fans.
The San Siro stadium in Milan is set to host the match between AC Milan and PSG on Tuesday evening.
Notably, this is not the first instance of such violence, as a supporter of English club Newcastle United was also stabbed in Milan back in September ahead of their Champions League game with AC Milan.
