Real Madrid have officially announced the transfer of the Dutch centre-back Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth in a transfer worth £50 million. The 20-year-old will officially join the Spanish giants on 1 June 2025 and will likely be included in the team traveling to the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
Dean Huijsen impressed in his first-ever Premier League season, having arrived at Bournemouth from Juventus in the last transfer window. His assertive showing drew the interest of top English clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool. Still, Real Madrid acted quickly to acquire the youth, agreeing to personal terms and activating his release clause.
“AFC Bournemouth can confirm that defender Dean Huijsen will join Real Madrid following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, with the Spanish side having activated a £50 million release clause,” the statement read.
The contract signed in Huijsen’s name will run for five years, to 2030, marking the signings’ first and very important signing for the summer at Madrid under the stewardship of newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso.
Conversely, Madrid are in pursuit of a deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, who is a free agent. While all parties have agreed terms, it seems Liverpool are unwilling to release him anytime soon before the Club World Cup.
