Nigerian music sensation Rema has disclosed the most ridiculous rumor he has ever heard about himself being termed a devil worshiper. During an interview recently aired on the podcast ‘Kids Take Over’, the singer of the song ‘Calm Down’ said, “They say I worship the devil. It’s crazy. I didn’t respond because it’s not important. It’s a waste of time.”
He explained that the symbols he uses in his songs and visuals come from Edo culture and are not satanic, just as some people have suggested. He made it clear that, as an artist, his expression has to do with being true to his heritage, even when this means being misunderstood by people.
All those wild rumors notwithstanding, Rema is still focused on his career. He recently spoke about his earlier collaboration with Canadian rapper Drake on the song “Mention Me,” which surfaced unofficially. He has said he feels excited working with Drake once again: “I feel like we’ll make a huge song if we take our time.”
Impervious to false rumors, Rema is breaking even more records in the music world; his art was talking while he remained unrestricted with his cultural upbringing.
