Protests have broken out in Akwanga and some other parts of Nasarawa State over the decision of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal–GEPT, in Lafia, tge city capital.
The fans of the All Progressives Congress APC and those supporting Governor Sule had stormed the streets to express displeasure over what they tagged an injustice done to the governor by the Tribunal.
Remember that the Tribunal had on Monday, 2nd of October, ruled that Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party–PDP was the rightful winner of the March 18 polls, making the incumbent Governor an unlawful occupant of the governorship position in the state.
Unsatisfied with the verdict, the APC and Sule had shunned the judgement and called for its legal team to take further action and ho to the appellate court for an appeal.
In backing the Governor, a few party stakeholders had taken to the streets of Akwanga LG in a solidarity march, carrying banners with inscriptions like; “People of Akwanga stand with the dissenting judgment”, among other captions.
