The late Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi’s children, have warned his ex-wife, Damilola Adeyemi, against alleged defamatory remarks about their father.
Aminat Adeyemi, a daughter of the late monarch, shared a letter on Instagram on Friday, warning Dami to stop “tarnishing our father’s reputation.”
Her remarks on their family were deemed “disrespectful and damaging” by the Alaafin children in the letter dated January 22.
Additionally, they vowed to take legal action if Dami keeps using their father’s name in interviews.
“It has come to our attention that DAMILOLA SUKURAT MOSHOOD (popularly called Queen Dami) has been making public remarks regarding our late father in various interviews,” the letter reads.
“While we respect everyone’s freedom of speech, we find it necessary to address this matter as these statements have become increasingly disrespectful and harmful to our family’s reputation.
“We hereby request that you cease making any further public statements involving our late father’s name or legacy.
“These comments are not only inaccurate but also unnecessary, especially considering your prior status and circumstances. You are no longer a part of the family or his legacy, and as such, we expect you to respect the boundaries of our family matters.
“We urge you to pursue your endeavors without dragging our father’s name into public conversations.
“Any further remarks that tarnish his memory or our family name will not be tolerated, and we reserve the right to take appropriate legal or reputational actions if necessary.
“We hope this serves as a clear and final warning. Let us all move forward with dignity and respect.”
Alaafin died in April 2022. Dami and singer Portable, who began dating in 2023, have been in the news owing to several controversies.
