Rihanna Looks Back at Fame and Fortune: “Music Got the Attention, But God Had Other Plans”
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Rihanna spoke of her journey to international fame and fortune at an event in Barbados, though it was music that catapulted her into superstardom status, she feels that her success was guided by a higher power. Speaking at the launch of her Fenty Beauty brand in her home country on Thursday, the singer spoke of her perspective, the shift in her path from the stage into entrepreneurship.

“Music was the thing that got the attention, but God had other plans for me,” she said. “I was able to create in ways that were sincere, genuine, organic, and authentic to the things that I love”.

Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty empire has made her one of the most influential people in the beauty industry within these last years. Forbes named her a billionaire after she crossed the billion-dollar net worth mark. However, even with a record-shattering music career laying the foundation, it is her beauty and fashion ventures that are rocketing her fortune and legacy.

With Fenty Beauty, Rihanna rewrote the rules of inclusivity within the beauty world by introducing products for a wide variation of skin tones and championing an approach that feels very personal to her ethos. While music may have been the launchpad, the tentacles of Rihanna’s influence stretch far beyond into cementing her status as an icon and visionary businesswoman.
