Six people believed to be armed bandits were apprehended by Rivers State Police Command agents during a stop-and-search operation on the Elele-Owerri road.
The accused are Boniface Owoicho, a 55-year-old driver, Momo Junior, 27, Mudi Moses, 25, Ibrahim John, 35, Abdul Faruk, 23, and Nuhu Imadi, all of Kogi State, according to a statement from the Command signed by its spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, the six suspects were in a Toyota Sienna with the license plate KNE 194 AJ at around 11:40 a.m.
Iringe-Koko reported that the police crew found five arms inside the car after conducting a thorough search.
Twenty AA live cartridges and three single barrels and two automatic revolver barrels made in England, according to her, were also found.
A bag containing chaplets, rings, beads, anointing oil, one pair of Civil Defense operation trousers, and one Muslim neck pullover were also found, along with four police belts, five knives, two military cardigans, three operational boots, one Civil Defence operation hat, four face caps, two woven caps, ten handsets, five Identity cards, and two torchlights.
She stated that a thorough investigation had already begun and that those found guilty would face charges in court after it was finished.
