Russian opposition leaders living outside Russia, including Alexei Navalny’s wife, Yulia Navalnaya, and former political prisoners Vladimir Kara-Murza and Ilya Yashin, organised a protest march in Berlin on Sunday. The march was held to demand an end to the war in Ukraine and the removal of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Protesters carried placards with messages such as “Victory for Ukraine,” “Putin’s downfall,” and “Freedom for Russia.” A big red banner at the front of the march said, “No Putin. No War.”
The march started at Potsdamer Platz, went through Friedrichstraße near the “Russian House,” and ended near the Russian Embassy on Unter den Linden. The organisers wanted to bring together Russian expatriates in Berlin and Germany, where about 235,000 Russian citizens live, along with many people of German and Russian descent.
This event highlighted efforts to unite Russian opposition members living abroad and build support against Putin’s government and the war in Ukraine.
