Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has publicly apologised to Afrobeats superstar Davido following a mix-up involving his 5ive Star Food campaign.
The drama began after Martins took to Instagram to advise Davido, mistakenly assuming that 5ive Star Food was a new restaurant venture.
She suggested the brand should have been named in honour of his wife, Chioma, who is widely praised for her culinary skills.
According to Martins, the comment came from a place of admiration and not malice.
However, Davido quickly addressed the issue, clarifying that 5ive Star Food is not a restaurant but a promotional collaboration with the FoodCourt app tied to his album 5IVE.
He also requested that Martins remove Chioma’s photo from her original post.
In response, Sarah Martins shared an apology video on Instagram, explaining that she had been misled by a post from a food blogger, @opeyemifamakin. She expressed regret for any unintended disrespect, stressing that she is a devoted fan of both Davido and Chioma.
In her caption, she wrote:
“One and only 001 @davido. The king himself, the crown of my sis Chioma, the apple of our eyes (30BGs), please I’m truly sorry if you felt disrespected. Na @opeyemifamakin cause am. I was misinformed by his post.”
Martins also used the opportunity to promote her new comic film My King, which premiered on her YouTube channel, SARAH MARTINS TV. She appealed to Davido for support, saying:
“Do well to watch, laugh, and forgive me… I get faith, you be kind man, and you fit shock me by granting my request.”
Her apology has since attracted attention on social media, with fans watching closely to see if Davido will respond.
