Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has taken a stand in the ongoing row between music superstars Burna Boy and Speed Darlington. The drama, which began when Speed Darlington accused Burna Boy of having an illicit relationship with American music mogul Diddy just to win a Grammy, has generated conversations across social media.
During an Instagram live session, Seun Kuti addressed his fans who urge him to say something about the trending controversy: he firmly distanced himself by saying that he is not involved, “Don’t involve me in Burna Boy and Speed Darlington’s case; because I collected a diamond from him doesn’t mean I’m his close adviser.”
Kuti further pointed out the irony in the accusations as Diddy was the same person being criticized due to his contribution to the fame of the accuser.
“Diddy was even the one who made Speed Darlington popular. He reposted Bangdadang, which made the song popular. I have done a lot of songs, and Diddy never posted any of them, but he reposted Speed Darlington’s song,” he said.
Seun’s refusal to be drawn into the saga reflects his wish to remain neutral admist the storm.
