At least nine people, including four soldiers, perished on Sunday evening when a civilian plane plummeted in Sudan due to technical reasons.
The conflict has left millions stuck in their homes without water, especially in the suburbs of the capital Khartoum where residents had asked for food donations to help them survive the drawn out war.
On Sunday, July 24, a citizens’ support organisation had called for urgent donations to save people from starvation.
Abba Mohammed Babiker, a resident in Khartoum had revealed that his family had only been surviving on barely a meal per day, but with the conflict marking its 100th day on Sunday, food was about to get even scarcer.
Residents from Khartoum North have also revealed that at least one person, a local musician, had already succumbed to starvation.
The Sudan army have reported that a child had survived the crash of an Antonov plane which killed nine persons when it crashed in Port Sudan.
Port Sudan airport is currently the only airport still working in the country due to the war.
Residents have revealed that there has been intermittent electricity in addition to the food scarcity.
Reports have highlighted that at least one-third of the population had been facing hunger before the war commenced.
The United Nations World Food Programme, has meanwhile said that it has reached over 1.4 million people with emergency food aid, even as the needs keep intensifying.
