Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has finally opened up about the reason behind her long-standing fallout with fellow music star Tiwa Savage, revealing that it stemmed from a betrayal involving her former personal assistant.
Speaking on the OffAir Show, the “Yolo Yolo” crooner explained that she only discovered the cause of their rift years later when she reconnected with her ex-assistant in London.
According to Seyi Shay, the former staff member confessed to having an affair with Tiwa Savage’s estranged husband, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Tee Billz — a revelation that left her both shocked and disgusted.
The singer said Tiwa Savage might have assumed she was aware of the affair and had chosen to overlook it, which possibly led to the breakdown of their friendship.
She recounted: “To cut the long story short, it turns out the girl was having a relationship with my girl’s [Tiwa Savage’s] husband and I didn’t even know. She [my ex-PA] told me all of that. It must have been true; I don’t think she would say all of that as a joke.”
Seyi Shay said she was deeply hurt by the revelation, describing the entire situation as painful and unfair.
“When she told me this I was disgusted because we were rolling together and doing things together, meanwhile Tiwa probably thought I knew about it. You can just imagine the anger. It’s so painful. If that was me, I would have done worse,” she added.
The singer’s revelation has reignited conversations about the infamous feud between both artists, which had remained largely unexplained for years.
