Veteran Columbian artiste, Shakira, and her lover Gerald Pique who is a Spanish football player had announced in a joint statement that they would be going their separate ways.
Shakira met the player while recording her music video for ‘Waka Waka’, the official theme song for the 2010 FIFA world cup. The couple has been in a relationship for over eleven years and the relationship had produced two children both of which are boys. This breakup comes after rumors went around that Gerald Pique had cheated on Shakira and was living on his own in Barcelona.
“We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our utmost priority, we request respect for (our) privacy,” they said in a statement.
45 years old Shakira, who is also called the Queen of Latin music, is popular for her songs ‘Hips don’t lie’ and ‘Whenever, Whenever’. Gerald Pique on the other hand is aged 35 years and plays for the Spanish national team and Barcelona football club as the center back.
