The law firm representing Afrobeats superstar Davido’s estranged partner, Sophia Momodu, in their ongoing child custody dispute has issued a strong warning to the singer and his supporters over what it described as harassment and inflammatory comments targeted at its legal team.

In a statement released on Monday, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors condemned what it called “all manner of inflammatory public statements” directed at one of its partners, Ebelechukwu Enedah, following her professional conduct during court proceedings in Lagos.

The firm emphasised that the matter remains before the court and should be resolved strictly through legal processes, cautioning that attempts to intimidate legal practitioners could threaten the justice system.

“Our attention has been drawn to statements chiefly engineered by a Nigerian Afrobeat artiste, via social media, directed at our partner arising from her professional conduct in a custody matter presently pending before a court of competent jurisdiction in Lagos State.

“If legal practitioners are to be threatened, intimidated, or exposed to harassment outside the courtroom for asking questions, testing evidence, or discharging their professional duty to their clients, then the very foundation of justice is imperiled,” the statement read.

The warning follows a series of emotional posts by Davido last Friday, in which he accused Enedah of making what he described as insensitive comments about his late son during cross-examination in court.

In a widely shared Instagram post, the singer wrote, “Like I said in the courtroom, I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever, and you were still smiling, smirking.

“You are a wicked human being. You are the worst lawyer ever. I beat you in court. You are not learned.”

In the heat of the moment, Davido mistakenly mentioned gospel singer Tosin Bee, leading to online harassment directed at the musician. Tosin Bee later clarified that he had no involvement in the case, stating, “Hello Mr David, I don’t know anything about the post you made. As a matter of fact, my mum went to be with the Lord eight years ago. I guess this is a case of mistaken identity. So sorry you had to deal with this, but my prayers are with you. I love you brother.”

The backlash reportedly forced Enedah to set her social media accounts to private.

Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the safety and professional independence of lawyers, urging the Nigerian Bar Association and the global legal community to speak out against actions capable of undermining judicial proceedings.

“Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors will deploy every lawful measure available to it to resist any attempt to intimidate counsel or undermine judicial proceedings.

“Those who engage in conduct calculated to interfere with the administration of justice will be met with the full consequences provided by law,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Davido later announced on X that he had decided to withdraw the custody case, clarifying that he never sought full custody of their daughter.

“I never asked for full custody. I asked for joint custody. Nobody won, nobody lost, but Imade. There is nothing to celebrate,” he wrote.

He further expressed disappointment over how the matter unfolded in court, saying, “I’ve decided to drop the case because … until she brought out her last card! MY DECEASED SON! THAT’S A NO NO! Lowest blow!

“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her … let’s move on. One love!”
