The Southern Kaduna Renewed Hope Movement of Nigeria, a political group, has urged President Bola Tinubu to elect a minister from the regional zone in order to correct what the group has termed ‘an age-long marginalization’ of the sector.
The group bemoaned that Southern Kaduna had been experiencing severe marginalization for the past eight years of the All Progressives Congress–APC rule, further leading to an imbalanced representation of the region at both the state and federal levels in the nation’s affairs.
Yusuf Kanhu, the National Coordinator of the group, had made the plea during a news conference on Friday, August 25. Kanhu had insisted that the representatives of Kaduna State in the Federal Executive Council should be chosen from the southern part of the state since the governor and the speaker were from northern and central senatorial parts of the state.
The group had also urged President Tinubu to consider picking a National Commissioner in the National Population Commission, NPC, from Southern Kaduna.
Note that the ministerial slot for Kaduna State is still to be filled after the immediate ex-governor Nasir El-Rufai, who was earlier recommended but had failed to be cleared by the Senate on account of a security report held against him.
Jafaru Sani had however,
been suggested by El-Rufai as his replacement.
