The Super Eagles of Nigeria have slipped two places to 30th in the latest FIFA global football rankings released on Thursday. The drop comes after the team’s mixed performances in two international friendlies last month.
Despite securing a 2-1 victory against Ghana, Nigeria suffered a 2-0 defeat against Mali, contributing to their decline in the rankings. Previously, Nigeria had climbed to their highest FIFA ranking since May 2013 after a successful campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) where they reached the final.
In Africa, Morocco maintains its position as the top-ranked team, followed by Senegal and African champions Cote d’Ivoire. Egypt and Nigeria round up the top five on the continent.
Globally, Argentina retains the top spot, with France in second place, while Belgium has overtaken Brazil and England to claim third position.
