Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has dismissed the indefinite suspension issued against him by three top industry guilds, describing their joint announcement as “inaccurate” and insisting he will challenge the decision through legal channels.
The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) had jointly barred the actor on Friday over allegations that he assaulted producer Peggy Ovire during a film shoot.
The issue stemmed from a confrontation on November 11. Arimoro said the dispute began when he attempted to exit the set after working beyond his agreed call time.

According to him, Ovire allegedly stopped his car and insisted he remain to shoot more scenes—an action he claimed escalated into his being held down and assaulted by the producer and her team.
He subsequently demanded N100 million in damages from Ovire.
Ovire, however, refuted his claims, saying his version of events was “grossly misleading, selective, and materially false.”
In a letter dated November 27, the guilds directed Arimoro to issue a public apology to both Ovire and the general public, using the same platform where he had initially spoken about the matter. He was also instructed to record a corrected account of the incident and to return to complete two remaining scenes for the film Pieces of Love under supervision.
The guilds further mandated Ovire to write an apology for “failing to de-escalate the matter” and to the estate management where the confrontation occurred. They reaffirmed their commitment to a zero-tolerance stance on violence, harassment, intimidation, or any form of misconduct during productions.
Reacting in an Instagram post, Arimoro wrote, “To be honest, the statement given doesn’t capture the facts of the matter in any way, shape, or form!”
He added, “My management and legal team are aware of this, and I will provide a comprehensive response tomorrow. My legal team is also proceeding with the necessary action to address these unfounded claims.”
