Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, a Nigerian musician, has set a new record for Nigerian music in the 65th edition of the renowned Grammy Awards 2023.

The singer, who had three nominations at the Grammy Awards 2023 for her immense contribution, has won a Grammy in the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her vocal and writing contribution to Future’s smash hit ‘Wait For U,’ featuring Drake and herself, becoming her first Grammy award win after four nominations.

Meanwhile, her coworker, award-winning singer Damini Ogbulu, better known as Burna Boy, was nominated in two categories but did not win.

The frontline act and owner of Spaceship Entertainment lost the “Best Global Album” category to Masa Takumi’s album “Sakura,” and he also lost the “Best Global Performance” category to a collaboration by Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode’s song “Bayethe.”
