Srettha, representing the leading Pheu Thai party within the coalition, along with 33 cabinet ministers, affirmed their loyalty to the monarchy during the swearing-in ceremony. The government is set to present its policy statement to parliament next Monday.
Srettha, a 61-year-old billionaire educated in the United States and a former president of the luxury property developer Sansiri, expressed his administration’s commitment to addressing the needs of the people.
“This government is a people’s government… we are all here as representatives of the people,” he declared in a televised address after taking the oath. “There are many problems, so we will work tirelessly every day… we will address the demands of the people.”
Srettha, who also serves as the country’s finance minister, announced plans for a cabinet meeting on Wednesday and scheduled visits to the northeastern provinces of Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, and Nongkhai on Friday. During these visits, he intends to engage with local communities to better understand their challenges and concerns.
