The Murtala Mohammed International Airport detained a drug suspect with 14.4 kg of cocaine, but the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria has distanced itself from the suspect, claiming the suspect is not a practitioner.
This is said in a statement provided to the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Lagos and signed by Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director-General of ARCON.
A member of the advertising industry was detained at the airport for allegedly trying to export 14.4 kg of cocaine to Saudi Arabia while it was covered in lace and Ankara textiles, according to Fadolapo.
He claimed that advertising is a respectable job with legal protections.
Only those who are legally qualified and registered following the law are permitted to practice advertising in Nigeria and are acknowledged as such.
