The National Assembly is looking into ways to improve the performance of the nation’s security agencies to protect the safety of the populace.
A two-day retreat on national security legislative reform for Senate committee members is being held at the National Assembly’s request, along with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and security industry players.
Amos Olatunde Ojo, the Clerk of the National Assembly, raised worry over the rivalry between security services in the nation and emphasized the importance of enacting pertinent legislation to improve the security architecture in the nation.
He expressed concern over the increase of insecurity issues via social media, highlighting the need for Nigerians to support the security authorities to address the devastating security crises throughout the country.
He claimed that the Retreat was planned in support of initiatives made to resolve concerns about the conflicting duties of Nigeria’s security agencies.
Ojo expressed confidence that the retreat’s results will foster an environment favorable to changing the national security architecture.
