The Paris Fashion Week is the most talked about, of the Big Four (London, Milan, New York and Paris) fashion shows. Milan comes a close second. Why is this? For starters, Paris and Milan both have more shows than their other counterparts, complete with separate fashion weeks for the men and women’s wear fits.
Secondly, Paris is notable for its haute couture show, and boasts of a large gathering of celebrities for these shows.
The fashion weeks are basically a commemoration of the latest fashion trends and the industry itself, and no other other occasion brings together various big, popular fashion brands, collectively unveiling the trends that will influence the upcoming fashion season like these weeks.
Now, as always with the shows, certain patterns were observed at the runways, leaving fashion gurus to wonder, are these the trends for this season? This Paris Fashion Week event is the first, out of two seasons held in a year. The trends we’re going to be looking at for now is for the Fall/Winter Ready-to-Wear collections.
Here’s a look at the trendsetters this season:
Floral Pattern:
The flower-power wave doesn’t seem to be dying down anytime soon. From floral accessories to floral patterns, flowers are the ‘in-thing’ this season. To further buttress this, American singer and actress, Jennifer Lopez attended the Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2024 show —held during Paris Fashion Week—, in a remarkable sage green gown featured a plunging neckline and a dramatic floral cape, designed by Elie Saab. Not to forget Loewe’s FW24’s collection.

Neutral and Muted Colours:
Black, brown and gold were the colours prominently seen on the runway this time. Several fashion houses showcased these colours in their designs, with Valentino for instance, revealing its all-black collections at the Fashion Week. The celebrities who attended the shows were not left out too as they graced the event wearing the trending colours.

Cowboy Comeback:
Cowboy fits have been on the low for some time now but with pop-culture now seemingly embracing cowboy core, as seen on the Barbie movie and now by Beyoncé in her upcoming country album:Act II. Not to be left out, brands like Louis Vuitton played around with the western style. Fingers crossed on how cowboy hats and boots and its related paraphernalia will play out in the coming months.

Outerwear Redefinition:
There was a lot of focus on outerwear including coats, jackets and blazers, tweed sets —you name it— this season.
Various designers showed off their different approaches to outdoor clothing. Fashion brand Dior, for instance, really focused on safari jackets and trench coats, smart suits, and cardigan sets.
The hype with outerwear extends to fashion pundits closely monitoring what celebrities are wearing, and how they are wearing it.
