Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has officially launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, a new initiative aimed at empowering emerging artists across Africa through mentorship, training, and access to industry resources.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the singer described the foundation as her way of “building at home after years of building globally,” while teasing a major announcement about the programme later in the day.

“After years of building globally… It’s time to build at home, Introducing the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation,” she wrote.

“A new initiative dedicated to empowering emerging African creatives through access, mentorship and world-class music education. Stay tuned. BIG ANNOUNCEMENT today at 4PM WAT.”

The foundation is focused on supporting young talent from underrepresented and underserved communities, providing them with tools, knowledge, and confidence to develop their craft and make an impact culturally and professionally.

“The Foundation is dedicated to empowering emerging talent through music, education, and creative opportunity by providing access to world-class music training, mentorship, and resources across the African continent,” the official statement reads.

It adds, “Music is more than sound; it’s identity, voice, and possibility. By giving young people the tools to hone their craft and navigate the industry, they gain direction, confidence, and the ability to tell their stories on a larger stage.”

As part of the initiative, Tiwa Savage has partnered with Berklee College of Music, the leading contemporary music college in the US, to host a four-day intensive programme from April 23 to 26. The course will immerse participants in performance, songwriting, production, and music business, connecting them with industry leaders and experts in the West African music scene.

“Program participants will experience professional musicianship and connect with artistic and industry leaders through the expertise of Artistic Advisor, Berklee alumna and world-renowned artist Tiwa Savage,” the foundation said.

Applicants are required to submit at least two performance videos recorded within the last six months, made publicly accessible on platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive.

The Tiwa Savage Music Foundation represents a significant effort to nurture the next generation of African music talent and provide them with the guidance and opportunities needed to succeed globally.
