Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has finally spoken up in response to the widespread rumors that her birthday thanksgiving bash was actually where she secretly married her partner Farouk Umar. Speculations went viral on Sunday, October 20, 2024, after photos and videos from the event started trending on social media.
Trending videos captured Toke and Farouk in white outfits, while one of the videos capturing Farouk kissing her neck actually fueled the speculations. Some overly excited fans and bloggers went to the extent of reporting that she had engaged secretly at the event, leaving many wondering if the party was her wedding.
As congratulatory messages flooded Toke’s social media pages, wild fans thought she actually got hitched to keep such a big plus away from the prying eyes of the public. However, it was at the after-party that Toke doused the rumour in her own way by friend-zoning Farouk.
Humorously and clearly, she responded, “On Obasanjo’s internet, they said I got married to this guy. This guy is my best friend o. Listen, on Toke Makinwa’s internet, they said I married Farouk. Farouk my friend, ore mi. this is my nigga and my friend, my brother, who wan marry you!” Further ahead, Toke continued by appreciating Farouk’s support but claimed there was no affair.
Nollywood actress Dorcas Shola Fapson, also known as Ms DSF, also joined in the drama, debunking the marriage rumors. She jokingly added, “Bloggers eat shit too fast,” clarifying that Toke’s event was only a thanksgiving on her birthday.
The social media buzz may have gotten people excited, but Makinwa made sure to set the record straight.
