Transfer deadline day: Barcelona sign Gabriel Jesus as Manchester City target Enzo Fernandez

The transfer deadline day brought numerous prominent deals and late dealings throughout Europe, with the conclusion of Gabriel Jesus’ transfer to Barcelona, while Manchester City submitted an offer to Chelsea for midfield sensation Enzo Fernandez.

Barcelona have finalised an agreement on a permanent transfer for Jesus from Arsenal, which brought an end to the Brazilian international’s four-year stay at his current club. The transfer marks one of the largest concluded today as clubs try to secure their squad ahead of the window closure.

Manchester City found themselves involved in the deadline-day business after making their first attempt to persuade Chelsea to sell midfielder Enzo Fernandez. According to football agent Fabrizio Romano, their proposal was made at the start of deadline day as deal negotiations took place. Chelsea are already looking at Chelsea’sLamine Camarato be transferred in as a replacement for £45 million from Monaco and were willing to proceed.

Aston Villa had also seen considerable business completed this deadline day, with Ibrahim Mbaye (18) moving from Paris SG to Aston Villa for a fee of nearly £55 million while also announcing that they had signed defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis for £30 million from Southampton.

Crystal Palace and Sunderland went head to head this deadline day as Palace made a last-ditch attempt to convince Olympique Lyonnaiswinger, Malick Fofana. Fofana had completed a medical with Sunderland for a bid that looked promising, but Crystal Palace lodged their bid late on, and this is yet to be confirmed.

At Everton, agreements were made for Folarin Balogun and Jack Grealish as Tottenham prepared to sign Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo, both from fellow club Chelsea. Sunderland had also come to terms with Tottenham over the transfer of Kevin Danso for £25 million.

As deadline looms, clubs across Europe will continue to work against the clock.
