The Election Petition Tribunal for the Governorship elections sitting in Kaduna has dismissed Governor Uba Sani, the All Progressives Congress, —APC candidate.
The petition had been filed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Isah Mohammed Ashiru.
The tribunal had also decided that the 2023 governorship election which took place in the state on March 18, 2023 was indeterminate.
A split decision of a ratio of 2:1, by the three-man tribunal panel headed by Justice Victor Oviawe had announced the election inconclusive, ordering for a supplementary election to be held by the Independent National Electoral Commission— INEC, within 90 days.
The Peoples Democratic Party had headed to the tribunal to challenge the election of Uba Sani as the elected Governor of Kaduna State.
The PDP had based its arguments on the claims of purported irregularities and electoral fraud, attesting that its candidate Isa Mohammed Ashiru, had been the rightful winner of the election.
The tribunal had further ruled that INEC was to conduct elections in seven wards, four local governments, 24 polling units with 16,300 registered voters altogether.
For the petition hearing, the PDP and Ashiru had called 24 witnesses and presented claims and documents to prove their case.
