U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Israel must decide what to do next in Gaza, especially after recent tensions with Hamas over the ceasefire and hostage negotiations. His comments came on Sunday during a press briefing at his golf property in Turnberry, Scotland, where he met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

“They don’t want to give them back, and so Israel is going to have to make a decision,” Trump said, referring to the hostages still being held by Hamas. This statement followed Israel’s decision to withdraw from talks that were expected to lead to a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

Talks Collapse as Hostage Situation Worsens

Trump emphasized the importance of getting the hostages back, but expressed concern that Hamas had become more rigid in their position. “They had suddenly hardened up,” he explained, highlighting how Hamas now seems unwilling to cooperate on releasing hostages.

Trump Says Israel Must Decide on Next Steps in Gaza

Trump’s message was clear—Israel is on its own to make a move, with no clear help or direction from the international community. This hands-off stance could complicate matters as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens and pressure mounts globally for a peaceful resolution.

No More Ceasefire Talks—for Now

According to Israeli officials, the negotiations with Hamas have stalled. Israel believes that Hamas is no longer negotiating in good faith, making it difficult to continue any ceasefire discussions. Trump didn’t offer a solution, but made it clear that the next step was entirely up to the Israeli government.

While Trump didn’t go into details about what actions Israel might take, his comments have stirred fresh controversy over U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. Many observers see this as a signal that the United States under Trump may step back from active involvement in the Gaza situation.

Trump’s Statement Raises Global Eyebrows

Some political analysts say Trump’s remarks could further embolden Israel to take drastic action. Others fear it might worsen the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Either way, Trump’s statement puts full responsibility on Israel, saying it’s up to them to decide what happens next.

While Trump is no stranger to bold foreign policy moves, critics argue that such statements might escalate an already volatile situation. Still, his firm stance is consistent with past remarks about letting countries “handle their own business.”

Israel Must Now Choose Its Path in Gaza

Trump has placed the ball squarely in Israel’s court, saying it must decide how to handle the Gaza situation.
