Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the detention of 304 people with alleged connections to the Islamic State.
The operations named “Operation Heroes-34,” was carried out simultaneously across 32 provinces and focused primarily on Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir.
Yerlikaya emphasized the commitment to preventing any terrorist activities, showcasing footage of security forces entering locations, apprehending suspects, and ensuring the peace and unity of the population.
Despite the Islamic State’s territorial decline since its 2014 peak, it persists in launching insurgent attacks, including incidents within Turkey, such as the 2017 nightclub attack in Istanbul that claimed 39 lives.
Recent heightened efforts against both Islamic State and Kurdish militants follow a bomb detonation near government buildings in Ankara on October 1, attributed to Kurdish militants.
Turkey regularly conducts operations against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), designated as a terrorist organization, both domestically and in northern Iraq.
