The U.S Military Veterans of Igbo extraction have demanded for the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The group had expressed their consternation over the continuous detention of Kanu, despite being released by a court of competent jurisdiction.
This call had come after a delegation from the American Military Veterans of Igbo Descent visited the U.S. State Department on Friday, expressing that the Nigerian judiciary was flagrantly ignoring rulings from competent courts, international courts, and United Nations opinions who were supporting Kanu’s release.
Aloy Ejimakor, Nnamdi Kanu’s legal adviser to Kanu had said that the visit has shown concord with the Igbo community and there was a need for a call to action for the State Department to intervene in Kanu’s case.
The veterans’ advocacy efforts is geared towards raising awareness about Kanu’s plight and push for his freedom, referencing human rights concerns and the need for justice.
