Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and his assistant Marcus Sorg have been given a €20,000 fine each plus a one-match ban from UEFA for their misconduct during a 4-3 Champions League semi-final thriller against Inter Milan in May.
UEFA’s disciplinary committee has verified on Friday that the summons are a result of Flick’s very angry reaction to certain decisions made by the referee that were tricky and resulted in Barcelona losing a place in the Champions League final for the first time in the last decade.
Both coaches are going to be away from the sidelines when Barcelona play in their European campaign this season.
Besides that, UEFA also imposed a fine of €5,000 on each of the forwards Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski for non-compliance with anti-doping procedures after the same match.
The two did not immediately report to the designated control post, thus violating the UEFA protocol.
Barcelona got more punishment of €5,250 for fans throwing things and €2,500 for lighting fireworks. Inter fans were not left out too, with fines of €22,000 for supporters blocking public passageways and €11,500 for their use of pyrotechnics inside the stadium.
