A fourth health worker has been found dead, owing to complications from the Ebola Virus Disease currently posing a big problem in Uganda.
According to the country’s health ministry, the death will be the fourth recorded death among health workers since the outbreak of the Ebola Sudan strain began sometime in August.
Jane Ruth Aceng, Uganda’s Health Minister, who confirmed the development on Twitter, reported that the victim identified as Ms. Margaret Nabisubi, an anesthetic officer, breathed her last at 4.33 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, after battling the virus for about 17 days.
“The late Margaret is the 4th health worker we have lost in the recent Ebola outbreak after the case of a midwife, Dr. Mohammed Ali, and the health assistant in Kagadi District. May their departed souls rest in eternal peace.”
Aceng additionally said that President Yoweri Museveni was very concerned about the situation and has ordered the ministry to do everything possible to curb the spread of the deadly disease.
Meanwhile, the country’s disease control agency had confirmed 43 cases and 13 deaths so far, as of Tuesday, October 4.
