The Ukrainian Air Force boldly mounted a defense and managed to shoot down 66 out of 78 Russian drones that were tracked, including 10 combat UAVs that were shot down over Kiev. The air assault over Kiev lasted five and a half hours, with falling debris damaging vehicles and igniting several fire outbreaks. This caused significant disruption, but the Ukrainian civil defense department was quick to respond and put out the fires.
Moreover, there were also partial losses of power in the Mykolaiv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions due to strikes on energy facilities. The Ukrainian Air Force also noted that it managed to intercept four cruise missiles.
This incident is yet another in the series of events that form part of the Ukrainian resistance to the Russian full-scale invasion that started more than two and a half years ago.
