A 300level medical student in the University of Lagos, Williams, has passed away, few days to the start of examinations. The cause and manner of his death are still unknown to this date. However, the provost of the College of Medicine at UNILAG, Professor David Oke said that the death of the student might have been as a result of stress that builds up to examination time.
The reason for his suspicion comes from reports that before the student killed himself, he had posted messages like ‘good bye’ which his fellows did not perceive as warning messages. After this incident, the management of the college has intended to do an autopsy in consultation with the family of the student.
The Association of Medical Students University of Lagos (AMSUL) confirmed the student’s death and expressed their sadness in a message to their members, encouraging them to stand in solidarity with one another during this grieving period.
