United States Ambassador Mike Waltz has extended an invitation to American rapper Nicki Minaj to visit the US Embassy at the United Nations, following her public support for President Donald Trump’s recent statements on Nigeria.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Waltz praised Minaj for using her platform to highlight the plight of Christians in Nigeria and encouraged further discussion on protecting religious freedoms.

US Ambassador Invites Nicki Minaj to UN Following Support for Trump’s Nigeria Remarks

He wrote, “@NICKIMINAJ, thank you for using your platform to speak out in defense of the Christians being affected in Nigeria. We cannot allow this to continue. Every brother and sister of Christ must band together and say, ‘Enough!’

“If you ever find yourself in New York, come by the US Embassy to the United Nations. I would love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world.”

The ambassador’s invitation followed Minaj’s response to President Trump’s announcement designating Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.” The US President, posting on Truth Social, said, “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical groups are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘country of particular concern.’”

Trump also warned that the United States could halt aid and even consider military action if the killings persisted, stating, “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the USA will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians.”

Reacting to the declaration, Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu urged calm and dismissed the comments as unnecessary, emphasizing that his administration was capable of handling internal security matters.

In her own post on X on Saturday, Minaj expressed gratitude for Trump’s position, praising the focus on religious freedom. She said, “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be attacked for practising their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”

She added, “Numerous countries around the world are being affected by this horror, and it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to The President and his team for taking this seriously. God bless every affected Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
