Vanity Fair Oscars Party 2024: The Best and Worst Looks
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

The 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party will definitely go down in history as the event where the hottest looks were served in their numbers. It seemed to me that Hollywood’s creme de la creme came out to the red carpet in full force, serving 10/10 jaw dropping styles. I couldn’t help but compare Sunday’s event to a mini debut of the Met Gala.

However, as is common with fashion events, there are bound to be misses, accompanied by the hits.

The Vanity Fair (Oscar) Party began in 1994 and is an annual affair. This year’s event was hosted by the magazine’s —Vanity Fair— editor, Radhika Jones. It is one of the several after-parties held after the Oscars, for celebrities to unwind, socialise and network.

It is no secret that the looks seen on the Vanity Fair red carpet are more adventurous, sexy and somewhat playful.

Below is the list of some of the most memorable looks of the red carpet event, in my opinion; the best and worst styles seen:

The Best Looks:

Kendall Jenner:

Kendall Jenner

The 28-year old model and reality TV star was a vision to behold as she walked the red carpet in a Maison Margiela sleeveless black sheer gown and corset.

The gown features sheer flowery prints and circular cutout adornments. Jenner accessorised with ballerina Tabi heels from Margiela. Underneath the diaphanous gown, the supermodel slimmed her waist with a nude corset.

Margot Robbie:

The ‘Barbie’ actress stepped out to the Oscar afterparty donning a gorgeous gold 1996 spring/summer Mugler embroidered corset bodysuit with a gold organza robe swathed over her arms from the Les Colonnes collection.

Chloe Bailey:

Appearing in a Robert Wun Golden Phoenix gown from SS23. Bailey made sure that her look would be remembered, especially as the gown featured stalagmite-esque ruffles on the bottom later of her figure-hugging gown.

Kylie Jenner:

The business mogul and reality TV star made a stunning appearance to the afterparty in a tight. Ms. Jenner had donned a Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown, which has since been described as a “dark red metal mesh cleavage dress” by the designer. This dress features “a crystal incrustation” inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe’s photography. Finally, the star accessorised her beautiful look with Lorraine Schwatz jewelry.

A.V Rockwell:

Wearing Rami Al Ali SS24 couture and Boucheron jewellery, the film director was a breath of fresh air with her gown that featured a fitted top with an asymmetrical, soft pleated collar and embellished geometrical bell sleeves.

The Worst Looks:

Joey King:

The 24-year old actress attended the 30th edition of the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a Balenciaga Fall 2024 gown and Balenciaga Knife Pump shoes. For accessories, she had gone with Sabbia Ring and Diamond Catene Earrings both by Pomellato. Frankly speaking, the strapless taupe dress featuring a high slit, which she paired with nontransparent tights and long gloves had been unflattering for body build and the overall look seemed a size too big for her frame.

Charlize Theron:

Charlize Theron

This stellar actress had appeared in Haute Couture. She graced the red carpet wearing Dior’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection’s long racer-back dress. While the outfit is okay, it was not a great option for Theron as it made her look unflattering and boxy, considering her body type.

Hailee Steinfeld:

Hailee Steinfeld

The singer and actress had appeared in an Alexandre Vauthier look from the Spring-Summer 2024 private couture collection to the Vanity Fair red carpet. This look felt off for me. I just couldn’t quite decipher if the designer was going for a tutu-like short gown or a floor length evening gown. I see the vision though, but I don’t like it.

Joan Smalls:

Wearing a pink Balenciaga Spring 2024 attire, the actress unfortunately missed with this one. The outfit was unflattering to her body frame and looked unfinished. The black hand gloves honestly did not help.
