“EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER THE LAW” are the very words written above the main entrance to the Supreme Court of the United States.
These words now ring hollow to a lot of Americans especially since after watching Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barret get away with lying at their Supreme Court confirmation hearings. There is not a single American I have spoken to in the last couple of years think there is equal justice under the law. It is a farce.
Take the recent DOJ indictment where Donald Trump and his aid, Walk Nauta, are charged with crimes bothering on taking classified documents from the White House to Mar-a-Largo. While Walt Nauta got his mugshot taken, Trump did not.
I have heard a lot of TV personalities paint this with all kind of brushes that Trump is a known entity and Walt Nuata is not. That It is on such grounds that you can’t ask the ex president to smile or frown before DOJ’s camera.. which ever pleases him.
If the grounds of self recognition is what we must draw from, then what about the so many celebs and famous people who have been indicted in the United States that got mugshots taken?
Haven’t you all heard of presidents and top politicians in other climes of the world whose mugshots got taken on their way to jail.
Why is trump an exception?
Well, we can now all say for a fact that you only get your mugshot taken in America if you are not a Donald J. Trump. It is simple as that.
This is a man who brazenly said he can shoot someone on 5th avenue and nothing will happen. Even his personal lawyers has argued to judges that the president cannot be investigated by local authorities while in office, even if he murdered someone on Fifth Avenue in New York.
Tell me if this man isn’t telling all and sundry that he is above the law.
Before his arraignment in court this past Tuesday, I was of the opinion that the indictment presented an opportunity for the Justice Department to prove to all Americans who have lost faith in the justice system that no one, not even a sitting president is above the law – but DOJ did what they are always known to do. They flunked what is a core and one of the most basic aspect of the judicial process.
Not only that…..We now saddled with a Judge who just a couple of months ago proved to be biased in favor of the ex president. This has left more Americans doubting the likelihood of the Special Council to achieve conviction, even with the strength of the evidence.
When a criminal is asking his accuser to go to court, then you are certain the Judge is gonna be relative – which can be equated to assigning Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointed judge to preside this govt case against Trump.
