The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied viral social media rumors alleging Wike collapsing at an event in Abuja last week. Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State, dismissed the claims after inspecting four major projects in the FCT, including the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
He described the “Wike collapsing” rumors as an attempt by political opponents to spread misinformation and mislead the public.
“I Did Not Collapse” – Wike Reacts to Viral Reports
Reacting to the allegations, Wike slammed those behind the “Wike collapsing” rumors, stating: “I don’t want to give credence to people who are only interested in carrying rumors. First of all, I’m a human being; it’s not a ghost that will collapse.”
The minister further stated, “Everybody will die one day; nobody will remain forever, but it is only God that can tell you when you will die, not human beings.”
Mocking those predicting his death, Wike boldly declared, “Some of them who said I will die, I can assure you that I will write their condolence letter.”
Public Appearance Debunks “Wike Collapsing” Speculation
Despite the false reports suggesting Wike collapsing and being rushed abroad for treatment, the minister dispelled all health concerns when he made a public appearance two days later. He attended a Sallah homage to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where he appeared energetic and in high spirits.
His media aide, Lere Olayinka, had earlier dismissed the claims, calling them false and misleading.
Wike Remains Focused Despite “Wike Collapsing” Rumors
Amid the controversy, Wike reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on President Bola Tinubu’s mandate for the Federal Capital Territory. The minister continues to inspect key projects across Abuja, showing no signs of health complications.
With “Wike collapsing” rumors spreading fast on social media, the minister remains undistracted, focusing on his responsibilities and ignoring political propaganda(so he says).
