Residents of Takum local government council of Taraba State are licking their wounds counting their losses following the wind storm that caused havoc in several parts of the area on Tuesday.
The windstorm had followed a heavy downpour that spanned several hours, causing the massive destruction of houses.
The areas badly affected in the council, include Angwan Rogo, and Cameroon quarters and others yet unnamed.
Business activities have been brought to a standstill as the residents are still taking stock of their damaged homes and other valuables.
Some of the victims who spoke to reporters had said that the wind storm which came after the heavy rain had blown off the roof of over fifty houses.
At the time of filing this report, the North East Development Commission, NEDC, has been notified to help assist the residents with relief materials.
Unsettled by the development, the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kafes, has issued a delegation to the local government to assess the level of damage caused by the windstorms.
The delegations include the Commissioner, Ministry of Transportation Development, Yakubu Samaila Yakubu, Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, among other dignitaries.
