The Nigerian Young Women (NYW) through a coalition of women’s groups have pointed accusing fingers at the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its top figures like Mrs. Tinu A. Abiola after depriving over 400 women in Abuja of the planned rice palliative. The women were promised palliative rice but instead, they were photographed and given banners with “Say No To Protest” in a weird situation.
According to the Ojineme Enakeme, President of NYW, the women were promised a 50Kg bag of rice each.
The women, who were brought from various non-governmental organizations and groups of people, were made to believe they would be given a 50kg bag of rice upon their arrival. When they arrived at the Eagle’s Square, they were given banners and forced to chant against protests without their knowledge, violating their freedom of speech.
The women’s groups have jointly called out Mrs. Abiola and Comfort Shekwoyan, the Women for Peace, Security, and Social Initiative chief mobilizer, to make public apologies for their shameful actions.
