Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has criticised Pastor Femi Lazarus for his recent remarks about women’s menstrual cycles, which many have described as dismissive and insensitive.

During a sermon that has stirred widespread outrage online, Pastor Lazarus claimed that women’s mood swings during their periods are due to their personal attitude rather than biological factors.

“You are not the first woman to see your period, so your menstruation is not the problem. I have never seen anywhere in the Bible any woman complain about menstrual pain. You are simply not a peaceful person,” he stated.

His comments quickly drew backlash across social media, with many accusing him of being ignorant about the realities of women’s health.

Reacting to the viral clip, Jegede called on men to show more empathy and avoid making uninformed statements about women’s experiences. She stressed the importance of understanding and compassion when addressing issues related to women’s health.

She wrote: “Yesterday I saw a trending video of a clergyman seemingly trivialising menstrual pain.

“If you’ve never experienced the hormonal changes that women go through during their periods, ovulations and pregnancy, please don’t make bold statements about things you haven’t experienced. Men please be kind.”
