About six miners have perished after a ground collapse at Zimbabwe’s Bay Horse mine in Chegutu. The mine is located approximately 100 kilometres (62 miles) west of the capital city, Harare, according to the state television reports on Friday, September 29.
ZBC TV, the state television news channel had revealed that six bodies had been recovered from the mine as at Friday night, but, at least 15 miners were still trapped underground amidst the rescue efforts that are underway.
Reports had confirmed that the mine had caved in around 08:00 GMT on Friday, confining 34 miners underground.
ZBC had reported that 13 miners had later managed to escape, but 21 miners had remained trapped underground.
