19 people died in the Kano Fire that occurred in different parts of Kano in November, and 36 million naira worth of property was also destroyed.

The information was revealed by the public relations officer of the state fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, on Friday.

According to him, they were able to save 83m naira worth of properties, and we were able to rescue 71 persons from fire incidents in the state.

He also advised the general public to be extremely careful during this period, and not to handle fire incidents negligently. He also sent out warnings to those in the habit of burning bushes, as it could lead to serious fire outbreaks. To be more secure, he advised shop owners to be cautious and to leave any electrical appliances on when not in use.

“We will seize this opportunity to advise the general public to handle fire with care to avoid inferno, more especially during this harmattan period.

“I will like to enlighten the public on the dangers of bush burning. During this harmattan season, bush burning could lead to fire outbreak.”

“Our call to households and shop owners is to always put electrical appliances off when not in use to avoid fire outbreaks,” Abdullahi stated.
