According to a recently released news report, about 19 young children and two adults have died as a result of the shooting that took place in a school in South Texas, United States. According to a report from officials, the assailant, an 18-year-old gunman opened fire on the Robb Elementary School for Uvalde City, killing the aforementioned victims before law enforcement officials managed to bring him down.

Investigators revealed that the suspect was armed with one handgun, one AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, and several high-capacity magazines. The assailant was also suspected to be complicit in the shooting of his grandmother, whom he murdered shortly before embarking on his rampage. Though yet to be conclusively identified, residents have theorized that the killer might be a high school student living in the area,

In a report made by the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Chief of Police, Pete Arredondo, he said that the shooting began at around 11.32 on Tuesday morning and added that the police are operating under the belief that he acted alone. A Border Patrol official operating nearby heard the gunshots and rushed to the school, shooting and killing the gunman before he could claim any more lives. Aside from the deceased, victims of the attack include a 66-year-old woman and a ten-year-old girl both of whom are currently in critical condition in a hospital in San Antonio University Health Hospital.

Also speaking, the Texas Governor, Greg Abbot condemned the killing and called the assailant and the incident a “horror unable to be understood.” A vigil is being held for the victims and survivors of the attack and a Spokesperson for the White House said that the US President, Joe Biden was “sick and tired” of responding to the ever-increasing news of mass shootings in the country.
