It is no longer news that Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra state, has declared his ambition to run for president in 2023 under the People’s Democratic Party platform.
In this regard, if he secures the PDP presidential ticket, I will offer two Southeast Governors who may or may not support his presidential bid, along with their plausible reasons.
Hope Uzodinma is one of the South East governors who may not support Peter Obi’s presidential ambitions. Under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, Hope Uzodinma is the executive governor of Imo State (APC). He is one of the South East governors who may not support Peter Obi’s presidential ambitions, owing to the fact that Peter Obi is running for president under a different political party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and supporting Peter Obi against the APC candidate could be seen as anti-party activity, which is against the APC Constitution.

Charles Soludo is another governor from the South East who may oppose Peter Obi. Because Soludo was elected governor on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), it will be difficult for him to support Peter Obi, who is running for president on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. All of this is because he is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance. His party will also be running for president in the 2023 presidential election.
