Veteran Nigerian singer and Benue State’s Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has voiced deep concern over the ongoing bloodshed in parts of Benue, calling it a national emergency.
In a heartfelt video message posted on Monday, the iconic musician expressed sorrow over the continued loss of lives, stating that the crisis has dragged on for too long without any concrete resolution from those in power.
“My heart is heavy. I am terribly sad and angry. What is happening in Benue State has become a national emergency. I can’t wrap my head around it anymore. I don’t even know what to say at this point. This has to stop,” he said.
Clearly disturbed by the recurring violence, 2Baba stressed that mere condemnation is no longer enough and that meaningful, urgent steps must be taken.
“My sadness, my anger, my frustration, it’s overwhelming that this keeps happening over and over again. This is no longer something we can just condemn in words. Serious action needs to be taken,” he continued.
He then urged all relevant figures in Benue, regardless of political leanings or personal interests, to come together and seek lasting peace.
“Every stakeholder in Benue must join hands. We can end this. I believe there is a solution,” 2Baba added.
His emotional appeal has resonated with many Nigerians, as calls for accountability and long-term action continue to mount in the face of repeated attacks across the state.
