President Bola Tinubu has once again ordered all ministers within his cabinet to give an account of their stewardship with immediate effect. This follows a previously implemented a policy of ministerial accountability, a decision geared towards ensuring that officials appointed are accountable to Nigerians on their appointment and ensure that ministers perform as obligated.

Ministerial Briefings to Enhance Transparency

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris disclosed the president’s order while addressing the press on Tuesday. Idris stated that the purpose of the ministerial briefing is to enable Nigerians know what the government has done so far and facilitate public engagement through questions and feedback.

Performance Guidelines and Accountability Measures

This directives builds upon an earlier decision by President Tinubu requiring ministers to sign performance guidelines before their swearing-in.

President Tinubu’s accountability structure aims to address ministerial inefficiency and ensure that ministers work the work for the huge salaries they receive from the government.
